A comment, on a lighter note (or a very serious matter, depending on your worldview): Numerous fundamental questions of existence or life remain curiously and criminally unsolved! Yet, we sit back, relax and waste our time in frivolous activities? Isn’t “Whodunnit” the most exciting and biggest adventure of them all?

The first question that we raised, namely, “Why anything exists at all?”, has been marked in the wikipedia as “open metaphysical question” – that is, it is an unsolved question. While we are at this, let us look at the list of “all unsolved problems” in philosophy. The Wikipedia does maintain a page titled List of unsolved problems in philosophy where an interesting caveat has been mentioned:

“Clearly, unsolved philosophical problems exist in the lay sense (e.g. “What is the meaning of life?”, “Where did we come from?”, “What is reality?”, etc.). However, professional philosophers generally accord serious philosophical problems specific names or questions, which indicate a particular method of attack or line of reasoning. As a result, broad and untenable topics become manageable.”

Personal view: I find this extremely alarming and escapist – to label something as “broad and untenable”. Though this does indicate the difficulty in even beginning to understand the world around us.

Work to be done: It will be fun to look at more number of “Unsolved Problems” that we humans have compiled.
